musical theatre

Musical Theatre Camp is a one-week camp designed to introduce students to the language, stories, characters in Shakespeare’s plays, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Love’s Labors Lost.  Students are introduced to musical theatre, imagination skills, choreography, singing, and the literature that they will study in three of four years of high school.

Camp activities specifically geared for young actors incorporating voice, movement, dancing, and acting enable students to explore Shakespeare’s text and the contemporary musical theatre repertory emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Daily recess and arts and crafts activities are all part of musical theatre camp for a well-rounded experience.

We offer multiple sessions of Musical Theatre Camp each summer.  In each session, up to twelve students are led through an exploration of contemporary and Elizabethan music as they create a unique, musical theatre version of a Shakespeare play. Camp meets Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. On the final day of each session, students perform on the Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse professional stage for family and friends.  After-care is available for an additional fee from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day, except for the final performance day.

Early tuition is $265 per student until March 1, 2020.  Tuition will be $295 per student after March 1, 2020.

Musical Theater Camp will take place at the Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse.
